Abstract

A városok terjeszkedése hazánkban alapvető változásokat idézett elő, amelyek során a nagyobb alföldi településeinken is több egymással összefüggő társadalmi, gazdasági és környezeti folyamat indult el, vagy gyorsult fel. Az urbanizált területek kiterjedése megnőtt, a külterületek szerkezete átalakult, társadalmukban erőteljes rétegződés és életmódváltás következett be, miközben új gazdasági funkciók és ezzel együtt ökológiai konfliktusok jelentek meg. Munkánk célja az ezen változásokkal együtt járó városperemi folyamatok feltárása az ország egyik legváltozatosabb város-vidék peremzónával rendelkező településén; Kecskeméten. Az itteni városi terjeszkedéssel összefüggő trendeket és problémákat kvalitatív módszerekkel, statisztikai elemzésekkel, valamint szisztematikus felmérésekkel; interjúk és terepbejárások segítségével tártuk fel. A tanulmány rávilágít a peremzónák erőteljes differenciálódására, az egyes városrészek komplex lakóövezeti gondjaira, a társadalmi polarizáció szélsőségeire, valamint a hagyományos tanyavilág visszaszorulására. Az eredmények jól mutatják, hogy a külterületeken kialakult túlzott mozaikosság nagymértékben megnehezíti a kultúrtájak megőrzését, a fenntartható, minőségi lakókörnyezeti feltételek megteremtését. | The expansion of cities in Hungary has brought about profound transformations, triggering or accelerating a series of interconnected social, economic, and environmental processes in the larger settlements of the Great Plain. Urbanized areas have expanded, the structure of the outskirts has been reshaped, and marked social stratification alongside lifestyle changes have emerged within these communities. Simultaneously, new economic functions have appeared, accompanied by ecological conflicts. This study examines the urban fringe dynamics associated with these changes in one of the country’s most diverse urban–rural fringe settlements: Kecskemét. Employing qualitative methods, statistical analyses, systematic surveys, interviews, and field observations, we investigated the trends and challenges arising from urban expansion. The findings highlight the pronounced contrasts and differentiation within the peripheral zones, the complex residential issues in certain districts, the extremes of social polarization, and the decline of the traditional farming world. Our results demonstrate that the excessive mosaicism of the outskirts significantly hampers both the preservation of cultural landscapes and the creation of environmentally sustainable, high-quality living conditions.
