Abstract

A Debreceni Református Kollégium Nagykönyvtárában őrzött 21 kötet és a bennük található 42 mű bemutatásával arra keressük a választ, hogy a Heidelbergi Egyetemen 1586 és 1622 között tanuló 14 magyar hallgató milyen teológiai munkákat vásárolt az egyházi szolgálatra való felkészülés részeként. A Heidelbergből hazahozott művek megjelenése és a megszerzésük között eltelt idő felmérése azt mutatja, hogy nem egy esetben már a megjelenés évében bekötette a könyvét a tulajdonosa. A 42 fellelt mű közel háromnegyede (74%) legfeljebb 15 éven belül került a pfalzi egyetemen tanuló magyar diákokhoz. A kutatás során bibliák, tíz bibliamagyarázatos munka és néhány prédikációs kötetet is előkerült. Hat dogmatikai mű mellett két népszerű mártirológiai műre és egy egyházjogi gyűjteményre bukkantunk. A második legnagyobb tematikus csoportot a polemikus tárgyú művek alkották, közöttük többségben voltak a Roberto Bellarminóval vitázók írásai. Bellarmino bíborosnak a polemika teljes területét átfogó Disputationes de controversiis Christianae Fidei adversus huius temporis haereticos című munkája a Heidelbergi Egyetemen tanuló protestáns diákok számára is a stúdiumok része volt. A tanulmányaik mellett a Heidelbergben vásárolt könyvek egy része segítette őket a következő évtizedekben vívott hitvitákra való felkészülésben. | By presenting 21 volumes and the 42 works they contain, preserved in the Great Library of the Reformed College of Debrecen, this study seeks to answer the question of what theological works were purchased for ecclesiastical training by the 14 Hungarian students who studied at the Universityof Heidelberg between 1586 and 1622.An assessment of the time elapsed between the publication of the works brought home from Heidelberg and their acquisition shows that in several cases the owners had their books bound in the very year they appeared in print. Nearly three-quarters (74%) of the 42 identified works came into the possession of Hungarian students studying at the University of the Palatine within 15 years of their publication.The research has brought to light Bibles, ten works containing biblical commentaries, and several volumes of sermons. In addition to six works on dogmatics, two popular martyrologies and one collection of canon law were identified. The second largest thematic group consisted of polemi-cal works, among which writings debating with Roberto Bellarmino predominated. Bellarmino’s comprehensive work on polemics, Disputationes de controversiis Christianae Fidei adversus huius temporis haereticos, formed part of the curriculum for Protestant students studying at the University of Heidelberg. Alongside their studies, some of the books purchased in Heidelberg helped prepare them for the religious debates they were to engage in over the following decades.
