Abstract

Nincsenek pontos adataink arról, hány roma nő él ma Magyarországon, milyencsoportokban és környezetben. A többségi társadalom gyakran kollektív képetalkot róluk, de ahogy nem beszélhetünk homogén cigányságról, úgy homogénnői szerepekről sem. Empirikus kutatásom során életútinterjúk segítségévela FETE-programhoz tartozó Dombpusztán vizsgáltam a helyi roma szegregátumban élő nők szerepvállalásait. Tapasztalataim alapján a roma nők a társadalmi elnyomás több szintjével néznek szembe, és gyakran egyedül maradnakproblémáikkal. Eredményeim szerint a Dombpusztán élő roma nők a női-anyaiszerepeken túl a férfiak hiánya miatt sokszor a hagyományos férfiszerepeket ismagukra vállalják. Ez szerepkonfliktust eredményez, amelyet generációkon átörökítenek, a tanult tehetetlenséghez hasonlóan, melyet az anya-lánya kapcsolatok elemzésével mélyebben is vizsgáltam. Meglepő eredményem, hogya közösség tagjai ugyan követik hagyományaikat, de nem mindig ismerik felazok valódi jelenlétét a mindennapokban. | We do not have accurate data on how many Gypsy women live in Hungary today, in what groups and environments. The majority society often holds a collective image of them, but just as we cannot speak of a homogeneous Gypsy community, we cannot speak of homogeneous female roles either. During my empirical research in Dombpuszta, which is part of the FETE programme, I examined the roles of women living in the local Gypsy segregated community, through life-course interviews. Based on my experience, Gypsy women face multiple levels of social oppression and are often left to deal with their problems alone. According to my findings, Gypsy women living there often take on traditional male roles in addition to their female and maternal roles, due to the absence of men. This results in a role conflict that is transmitted across generations, similar to learned helplessness, which I examined in greater depth by analyzing mother-daughter relationships. My surprising finding is that community members follow their traditions, they do not always recognise their true significance.
