Abstract
This paper explores the development of human rights in Georgia based on the country’s historical context, legal developments, and its interaction with international bodies, particularly the United Nations. It also discusses the influence of Georgia’s Soviet past on human rights problems, the reforms following the Rose Revolution, and existing challenges related to implementing standards of international human rights at home. The article then provides a deeper analysis of individual cases before the UN human rights committees, marking areas where Georgia has progressed and areas in need of improvement. These findings represent the nuanced interplay of the national and international mechanisms that define human rights in Georgia.
