Abstract
This study explores the potential of digital text analysis in examining Hungarian verbal charms. Using the Voyant Tools platform, it applies keyword frequency analysis, collocational network mapping, and distribution visualizations to a digitized corpus of over 6,000 annotated texts and metadata. The paper compares historical and ethnographic subcorpora, emphasizing how collection methods, researcher preferences, and questionnaire design have shaped the resulting textual patterns. Rather than drawing universal conclusions, the study highlights how the structure, editorial processes, and data preparation of the corpus itself influence what patterns can be detected and what interpretive questions can be asked.
