Abstract

The growing digitalization of military air logistics operations has created unparalleled opportunities for efficiency, interoperability, and mission readiness across NATO airlift capabilities. Nonetheless, it has also widened the attack opportunities for cyberattacks targeting essential aviation infrastructure and logistics systems. This study analyzes cybersecurity issues associated with NATO's airlift missions and examines how cyber weaknesses in mission planning, communication systems, and logistics platforms can directly affect operational continuity. By analyzing NATO doctrines alongside the ENISA Threat Landscape 2025 report, the research emphasizes the emerging cybercrime strategies, supply-chain vulnerabilities, and data tampering in the air transport sector. The results indicate that cyber resilience has transitioned from a secondary IT issue to an essential logistics security function, crucial for maintaining NATO's mobility and quick-response capability. The document outlines a comprehensive cybersecurity defence framework that emphasizes risk assessment, secure network design, access management, incident response, supply chain reliability, and ongoing staff training. Incorporating ENISA cyber threat intelligence into NATO's mission security framework underscores that the future success of military air logistics relies on the Alliance's capacity to uphold a secure, flexible, and resilient digital environment that can withstand evolving cyber threats.
