Abstract
The 2021–2022 excavations at the Alsópáhok, Tóaljai-dűlő-II site yielded several significant findings, among which the discovery of Roman-period burials on the hilltop at the western edge of the site stands out as particularly remarkable. One of the most significant new results of the excavation was the Roman burials found on top of the hill at the western end of the site. Next to the grave garden surrounded by a moat, three graves with rich grave goods and scattered ashes were found. Based on their annexes, they can be dated to the early imperial period (first- second centuries AD). The unearthed glass vessel, bronze bracelet and terra sigillata are clear examples of local luxury and wealth. In particular, terra sigillata was considered a rather expensive commodity. After cleaning, incised marks and inscriptions became visible on several pieces of the ceramic finds. In our paper study, we will specifically address the interpretative possibilities of the ‘tria nomina’ found on one of these artifacts within the context of the Early Roman Imperial period.
