Abstract
The SDG goals related to the digital ecosystem expect states to make these systems available to as much of society as possible, both in terms of infrastructure and skills, and to enable their use in education. The latter should also include preparing individuals for the shadow side of digitalisation, i.e. cybersecurity (network and cognitive security) awareness. Through the basic principles of the new National Core Curriculum, it is duly established and legally confirmed that there is a place in school education for the establishment of a basis for social protection, its possible methods, or rather its expectations. The framework is in place to enable the development of individual safety awareness in the public education system, across the different fields of study. However, critical events highlight the need to go deeper than the institutional framework and to equip those involved in public education with the skills to manage the downsides of this digital ecosystem and to pass them on to the next generation. An excellent way to do this could be to involve peer helpers, to integrate this issue into the curricula of teacher training courses, or for example to take the Digital Child Protection course at Széchenyi István University.
