Abstract

A nyugat-európai kereszténydemokrácia intellektuális mélysége, sikeressége és jelentősége jellemzően vizsgálódási kereten kívül helyezi a kelet-közép-európai és benne a magyar kereszténydemokrácia jellegzetességeit, valamint a kettő viszonyát (beleértve a hasonlóságokat és a különbségeket). E tanulmány amellett érvel, hogy a kereszténydemokrácia területenként eltérő változatainak – összehasonlító – vizsgálata szükséges, és a magyar típus megértéséhez Barankovics István (1906–1974) gondolkodását kell rekonstruálni. A tanulmány kifejti, hogy a magyar kereszténydemokrácia szellemi vezetőjének kereszténydemokráciája is két forrás ötvözéseként értelmezendő: míg a perszonalizmus, a demokratizmus-popularizmus és a keresztény világnézeti párt koncepciójában nyugat-európai szálak jelennek meg, addig az evangéliumi szocializmus és a keresztény magyar állameszme sajátosan magyarrá teszi Barankovics kereszténydemokráciáját. | The intellectual depth, success, and significance of Western European Christian democracy typically have typically placed the characteristics of its Central and Eastern European counterparts – including the Hungarian case – as well as the relationship between them, including similarities and differences, outside the scope of examination. This study argues that a comparative examination of the different variants of Christian democracy in different regions is necessary, and that in order to understand the Hungarian type, the thinking of István Barankovics (1906-1974) must be reconstructed. The study explains that the Christian democracy of the intellectual leader of Hungarian Christian democracy can also be interpreted as a combination of two sources: Western European influences are evident in his concepts of personalism, demorcatism-popularism, and the Christian worldview party, whereas Evangelical socialism and the Christian Hungarian state concept make Barankovics’ Christian democracy uniquely Hungarian.
