Abstract
The founder of Hungarian pathology, Lajos Arányi conserved the body of his son, Zoltán – who died as a child – with the mummifying procedure he worked out. The date and circumstances of Arányi's death have been unknown so far nevertheless these questions are now answered by a letter preserved and written by Lajos Arányi. How mummifying was done can presently be deduced from the perceptions made during the restoration.
