Abstract
Contemporary social and technological changes pose new challenges for mother-tongue education. Primary school learners are not only required to adapt to a rapidly changing vocabulary and an abundance of visual stimuli, but they also demand active learning situations that promote collaboration and problem-solving. The aim of this study is to explore how the Storyline method can contribute to the renewal of mother-tongue teaching: how it can support the development of reading comprehension and text production, enhance grammatical awareness, and foster learner motivation and creativity. The analysis is based on a comparison of international and Hungarian scholarly literature as well as specific classroom modules, which serve as examples of how narrative-based pedagogy can be effectively applied in mother-tongue education.
