Abstract

Az indoeurópai (IE) nyelvcsalád a Föld legnépesebb nyelvcsaládja. Az összehasonlító nyelvészet eredményei alapján egyértelműen kimutatható, hogy valamennyi ága egy közös ősnyelvre, a protoindoeurópai (PIE) nyelvre vezethető vissza. A PIE-t beszélők genetikai eredetének vizsgálata már az archeogenetikai kutatások kezdetétől meghatározó téma volt. A területen megjelent több alapvető jelentőségű publikáció nyomán egyértelmű modell látszott körvonalazódni, amely az indoeurópai nyelvek elterjedését a bronzkor elején, a Fekete-tenger északi térségében élő nomád népességek vándorlásához kötötte. Bár ez a hipotézis meggyőző magyarázatot nyújt az indoeurópai nyelvek mai elterjedésére, a PIE egy korai leágazását képviselő anatóliai nyelvek földrajzi elhelyezkedése továbbra is bizonytalan pont maradt. Az elmúlt években ugyanakkor három nagy volumenű, multidiszciplináris megközelítésű tanulmány is megjelent, amelyek a kérdéskört genetikai, régészeti és nyelvészeti szempontból egyaránt vizsgálták, és különös hangsúlyt fektettek az anatóliai nyelvek integrálására az indoeurópai eredetmodellbe. Noha ezek a tanulmányok nagy vonalakban hasonló demográfiai folyamatokat vázolnak fel, részleteikben jelentős eltéréseket mutatnak. Jelen összefoglaló célja, hogy rávilágítson az indoeurópai nyelvek eredetével kapcsolatos, továbbra is fennálló tudományos diskurzusra, amely véleményem szerint mindeddig csak részben szolgált kielégítő magyarázattal a kérdés végleges megoldására. = The Indo-European (IE) language family is the most widely spoken language family in the world. Results from comparative linguistics have clearly demonstrated that all of its branches can be traced back to a single common ancestral language, the Proto-Indo-European (PIE) language. The investigation of the genetic origins of the PIE-speaking population has been a central topic since the beginning of archaeogenetic research. On the basis of several foundational publications, a coherent model emerged, linking the spread of Indo-European languages around the turn of the Late Neolithic and Copper Ages to the migration of nomadic groups originating from the northern Black Sea region. Although this hypothesis provides a compelling explanation for the present-day distribution of Indo-European languages, the geographical location of the Anatolian languages, which represent an early branch of PIE, has remained an unresolved issue. In recent years, however, three large-scale studies employing multidisciplinary approaches have addressed the issue from genetic, archaeological and linguistic perspectives with a particular emphasis on integrating the Anatolian languages into their models. While these studies outline broadly similar demographic processes, they differ substantially in their detailed interpretations. The aim of this summary is to highlight the ongoing scholarly debate on the origin of the Indo-European languages, which, in my view, has so far only partially succeeded in providing a fully satisfactory explanation of the problem.
