Abstract

A városok fejlődése, a városi egyenlőtlenségek kérdése, a várostörténet kiemelt jelentőségű és aktuális kutatási téma a mai társadalomtudományokban. A város szerepe a társadalmi reprodukcióban, a gazdasági növekedés fenntartásában, a politikai hatalom allokációjaként figyelhető meg. A Kárpát-medencében található kisvárosok alapvetően periférikus térségek elemei (a nagyvárosi szuburbiákat nem számítva), amelyeknél a fejlődési tényezők és a népességmegtartó képesség vizsgálata kiemelt jelentőségű. A kisvárosokra jellemző alacsony térbeli mobilitás és a nagyvárosi hálózat hiányosságainak kombinációja kiemeli ennek a településtípusnak a jelentőségét a térségben, mint központi helyek, elsősorban munkahelyeket koncentráló foglalkoztatási központok. A tanulmány a kisváros fogalmára és a definíció változására és különbségeire koncentrál a Kárpát-medencei országokra vonatkozóan. | The development of cities, urban inequalities and urban history are a key and relevant research topic in the social sciences. The role of the towns is observed in social reproduction, in the maintenance of economic growth, and in the allocation of political power. Small towns in the Carpathian-Basin are essentially elements of peripheral areas (not including metropolitan suburbs), where the study of development factors and population retention is of particular importance. The combination of low spatial mobility of small towns and the lack of metropolitan networks underlines the importance of these types of settlements in the region, as they are mainly central employment locations where jobs are concentrated. The study focuses on the concept of a small town and the changes and differences in its definition in the Carpathian Basin countries.
