Abstract
The Romanian Constitution states that the country stands for strengthening the relations with Romanians living abroad and works to preserve, develop, and express ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and religious identities in compliance with the legislation of the states whose citizens they are. The issue of caring for the Romanian community abroad has always been central for the Romanian governmental structures. The article analyzes the influence of Romania on the Romanian community in Ukraine, the state of ensuring the community’s rights on the part of the Ukrainian authorities, and the Ukrainian–Romanian interstate negotiations on ensuring the rights of national communities living on the territory of these states.
