Abstract

The article summarizes the results of the first three seasons of archaeological excavations at Berzence Castle, starting from 2021. The castle was built in the 15th century, was occupied by the Turks after 1566, and was destroyed in 1664, leaving no visible traces in the modern times. We excavated the southwestern section of the castle, the remains of the 15thcentury mansion are still hidden in the unexcavated area. The castle courtyard was surrounded by brick walls by 1489, and a large, pentagonal tower was built on the southern corner. During the excavations, we found a rich collection of finds.
