Abstract
This study deals with the church charity activity of the reformed landowner László Szilassy. László Szilassy was the juridical associate judge of the counties Pest, Pilis and Solt, also the main patron of the reformed church of Pánd, where he built a church and a parish. He died in Pánd on 5th September 1791. He executed his first will on 20th June, 1774, the second on 16th July, 1790. In his will, he passed money down to restore the buildings of the reformed parish in Pánd, and also helped the pastor and the schoolmaster financially. He supported the reformed school in Losonc, with special attention to the orphans learning there. In addition, he left a considerable sum to the reformed hostels in Debrecen and Sárospatak. He set up a foundation with a donation of 1,000 Forint to help the old and disabled reformed pastors in Hungary. Due to this foundation, his name became well-known all over the reformed church in the country.
