Abstract

European Integration and the Infrastructure of Hungary: Status analysis Looking at the infrastructure of Hungary, accession to the European Union should be seen as a part of a long-term modernisation process rather than a single administrative act. Consequently, a status analysis should be focused not only on the current state but should simultaneously examine past decades of development and the present situation together. Hungary’s infrastructure should be compared to trends in neighbouring countries as well as to other states of Europe and the World. The analysis concentrates on the course of development in industrial countries and expected, through as yet uncertain, future possibilities brought by European cooperation. When assessing the current Hungarian situation and strategies to be followed the emphasis is not on formal compliance with EU directives but rather on a consistent national strategy and on consequent actions. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - A magyarországi infrastruktúrát vizsgálva az európai csatlakozás nem egyetlen adminisztratív aktus, hanem egy hosszan tartó modernizációs folyamat részének tekinthető. Ezért a hazai helyzetkép felvázolása nem egy pillanatnyi állapot, hanem több évtizedes múltbeli fejlődés és a jelen állapot együttes elemzését követeli meg. A magyarországi helyzetet célszerű összevetni egyrészt a környező országok, másrészt Európa és a világ különböző országai fejlődési tendenciáival. A fejlett országok által ténylegesen bejárt fejlődési utat, illetve az európai együttműködés várható, de még bizonytalan jövőbeli lehetőségeit elemezzük. Az adott hazai helyzet és a követendő stratégia értékelésénél nem a közösségi előírásoknak történő formális megfelelés az elsődleges, hanem konzisztens nemzeti stratégia kialakítása és az ennek megfelelő cselekvés.
