Abstract
This st udy is based on a survey carried out in a minority Burgenland Croatian settlement in the West of Hungary. It aims at providing empirical evidence on the complex transnational identity of the minority Croatian people living in the settlement . The paper also deals with language maintenance contexts, including the grassroots language maintenance and revival efforts by local teachers and activists, the role of the rel igious and cultural events in maintaining the minority language and identity , as well as the language variations of Croatian being present in the village.
