Abstract
The purpose of my treatise is to throw lights on the role of Mr. Josko Weidiger by looking at the activities of the amateur drama group in Horvátzsidány throughout the last 25 years. There is no doubt that Mr. Weidiger plays a very important part in the cultural life of the village. By performing his plays, the Horvatzsidány dialect of the Gradi sty Croatian language appears in the theatre as well to prove that the language we inherited from our ancestors 500 years ago is still legitimate and viable. Owing to our enthusiastic amateur actors, besides the Croatian language, the Croatian culture also comes to life on the stage to tell us about the everyday life of the people living in the Gradisty region.
