Abstract
The purpose of the present paper is to provide a brief overview of the cornerstones of pragma-dialectics, van Eemeren & Grootendorst’s contribution to argumentation theory. Firstly, I attempt to explicate the fundamentals of the theory, then I sketch its whole design putting special emphasis on fallacies conceived as violations of diverse discussion rules, and, as the last step, I try to account for the development and alternation of the theory.
