Abstract
The rise in interest in migration studies during the past years has led to an increase in studies of historical migrations, which are often conducted from innovative perspectives. The migration of noblemen in the early modern era has received particular attention in recent historical research around the world. It has been the subject of the major international conference organized in June 2018 in Le Mans by Laurent Bourquin, Michel Figeac, Olivier Chaline and Martin Wrede with the title Noblesses en exil: Les migrations nobiliaires entre la France, l’Empire et l’Europe centrale (XVe –XIXe siècle). The present volume contains historical studies which reflect the new directions of the history of noble migration in the early modern history in Europe.
