Abstract
Alba Aréna, Székesfehérvár, Hungary; Architects: Mihály Balázs and Tamás Attila Tarnóczky. Extruding a gently curved roof from a square plan results in a dynamic form which appears to have been executed with a single sweep of the hand. A form which cleverly plays with shadow and the reflective quality of sunlight during the day and at night giving the impression of a UFO landing, simple yet complex. A design which establishes a sports facility, ice hockey arena, as a monumental object that might be viewed as a brand defining form, something akin to the Apple "Magic Mouse."
