Abstract

Milyen tanácsokat adhat a reneszánsz kori Firenzében egy orvosi képzésben is részesült filozófus-teológus barátainak, hogy egészségüket megőrizzék, sokáig éljenek, és életerejüket még az ég ajándékaival is fokozhassák? A választ Marsilio Ficino Három könyv az életről című műve adja meg számunkra, e kötet szerzője pedig annak eredt a nyomába, hogy a reneszánsz orvosai milyen fogalmakkal éltek a gyógyításban, miért támaszkodtak ebben az asztrológiára, és honnan származnak a világ egységének szemléletére alapozó mágikus jellegű megfontolásaik? Nos, Ficino asztrológiai szempontjai részben kora gyakorlatából adódnak, művében a harmadik könyv mágikus-filozófiai megközelítései azonban a platóni és újplatonikus szerzőket görögből latinra fordító firenzei filozófus saját tanulmányainak gyümölcsei. A talizmánmágiát, bár nem ajánlja, a gyógyításban való felhasználhatóságát és működésének lehetséges voltát megvizsgálja, amivel a koraújkor számára egy új szellemi irányzatot indít el: az úgynevezett „természeti mágia” filozófiai vonulatát. A kora újkor egy további divatja is ebből az életmód-tanácsadó könyvből ered: a zsenik melankóliája. E monográfia hozzásegíti az olvasót Ficino e legkülönösebbnek vélt művének megértéséhez, megvizsgálja az abban felmerülő problémákat, bevezetést nyújtva annak a közelebbi megismeréséhez. | What advice can a philosopher-theologian who also received medical training in Renaissance Florence give his friends to preserve their health, live long, and even increase their vitality with the gifts of heaven? The answer is given to us by Marsilio Ficino's Three Books on Life, and the author of this volume set out to find out what concepts Renaissance doctors used in healing, why they relied on astrology for this, and where their magical considerations based on the view of the unity of the world come from? Well, Ficino's astrological aspects partly stem from the practice of his time, but the magical-philosophical approaches of the third book of his work are the fruits of the Florentine philosopher's own studies, who translated Platonic and Neoplatonic authors from Greek into Latin. Although he does not recommend talisman magic, he examines its applicability in healing and the possibility of its functioning, thereby initiating a new intellectual trend for the early modern era: the philosophical trend of the so-called “natural magic”. Another fashion of the early modern era also stems from this book of lifestyle advice: the melancholy of geniuses. This monograph helps the reader to understand this most extraordinary work of Ficino, examines the problems it raises, and provides an introduction to its closer acquaintance.
