Abstract
The short paper is in fact a dialogue about Volume XXV of the Series Studies on General Linguistics between the editor of the volume and a colleague. The volume itself is entitled The cognitive point of view in the psychology of language. It contains papers in psycholinguistics taking a cognitive stance. The discussion raises the issue of modularity, the architecture of the language faculty, relations between experimental and paper-andpencil based studies of language. It also raises broader issues such as the relationship between psycholinguistics proper and cognitive linguistics.
