Abstract

Both the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China are defining and unique features on the world security map. The aim of this analysis is to review the main schools of Russian geopolitical thought, with a particular focus on neo-Eurasianism, and to take stock of the extent to which the ideological community with the PRC persists and the impact on the relationship of the two parties of the decline of Russian influence in the Central Asian region and the rise of China in the last year, as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war and Russia’s turn to the West.
