Abstract

The article oversees the history of creation of Strategic security documents of Slovak Republic from 1993 until the release of the White Paper on Defence 2013 with a focus on the changing security environment in Central Europe, as well as with the reactions and suggestions of the Government and the National Council of the Slovak Republic on changes in external security environment and the current internal political situation. Furthermore, it considers the state of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic with regards to the official public evaluations when assessing possibilities of achieving specified tasks and expectations, as well as the possible influence of the state of the armed forces on the construction of strategic documents of the Slovak Republic.
