Abstract

Due to the deformation of a solid body its metric tensor changes. In this paper the Riemann-Christoffel curvature tensor, considered as the compatibility field equation of the nonlinear theory of deformation and written in terms of the metric tensor of the deformed body, is derived from the principle of complementary virtual work.
