Abstract
This paper deals with monodramas, and in particular with three contemporary Hungarian works that focus on the treatment of trauma by women. The protagonists of the plays are real-life persons (or characters assembled from several persons) who are trying to come to terms with some serious trauma, such as domestic violence, the raising and loss of a disabled child, or the imprisonment and execution of a child for murder. In order to explore the topic in depth, I will cover the concept of monodrama, its grouping possibilities and examples for clarity. In the analysis, I cover the issue of loneliness in monodrama, trauma processing, inherited maternal patterns, and the reactions of the audience to the performances. For a broader analysis, I also interviewed the main characters of the three plays.
