Abstract

The authors give the body dimensions of Woodcock (n=175) shot and measured in Hungary (Map 1.) in year 2005 according to sex and age as follows. (...) Hens made up 12.8% of the Woodcock numbers examined in Hungary in 2005. The proportion of hens varied between 12.8-40.0% in the hunting bags in the period 1990-2005. During the eleven year period between 1995 and 2005, that could be characterized with greater number of individuals, the proportions were between 12.8-31.0%, the average was 20.7% (Table 1-2., Figure 1-3.). The young birds made up 51.4% of the Woodcocks that were examined in Hungary in 2005. The proportion of young birds in the period 1990-2005 varied between 15.4-53.1% annually. In the eleven year period of 1995-2005 that could characterized with larger number of individuals, the proportions were 33,3-53.1% with an average value of 45.2% (Tables 3- 6., Figures 4-8.).
