Abstract

The Samantabhadra Meditation Sūtra , known through the Foshuo guan Puxian pusa xing fa jing 佛說觀 普賢菩薩行法經 translated by Dharmamitra 曇無蜜多 in 424, is regarded as the last text of the Threefold Lotus Sūtra within the Tiantai 天台 sect of Buddhism. The Old Uyghur block-printed fragment U 4790 (T M 35) from the Berlin Turfan Collection presents the final section of the text. Despite the fact that it preserves only a very small part of the text, it demonstrates that the entire text was translated into Old Uyghur and was also printed and is therefore of particular interest.
