Abstract

Száz éves a Sopron, Erzsébet utca 9. szám alatti épület, amelyet város építtetett a Magyar Kormány adományából. A Kormány ezzel Sopron város iránti háláját kívánta kifejezni a 2021. decemberi Népszavazás Magyarország számára sikeres kimenetelének elismerésével, a „Civitas Fidelissima”, a Leghűségesebb Város cím adományozásával együtt. Az épület eredeti rendeltetése pénzügyi palota lett volna, azonban felépítése óta eltelt egy évszázad alatt kényszerűségből sokféle funkciót töltött be. Röviden összefoglalva, az épület sorsát az adott politikai helyzet, a korszak történései határozták meg. Így az eredeti funkció mellett lakás, kórház, pártiroda, iskola és kollégium szerepet is betöltött, és 2002-től az akkori Nyugat-magyarországi Egyetem Közgazdaságtudományi Karának (jenleg a Soproni Egyetem Lámfalussy Sándor Közgazdaságtudományi Karának) ad otthont. A tanulmány ennek a száz éves időszaknak az eseményeit, történéseit kívánja összefoglalni a Soproni Levéltárban4 és a Soproni Múzeumban végzett kutatással, az ott található újságcikkek és egyéb dokumentumok elemzésével, továbbá az elérhető szakirodalom áttekintésével. | The building at Erzsébet Street 9, Sopron, which was built by the City with a donation from the Hungarian Government, is one hundred years old. The Government wanted to express its gratitude to the city of Sopron by recognizing the successful outcome of the December 2021 Referendum for Hungary, along with the awarding of the title of “Civitas Fidelissima”, the Most Loyal City. The original purpose of the building was to be a financial palace, but in the century since its construction, it has served many functions out of necessity. In short, the fate of the building was determined by the given political situation and the events of the era. Thus, in addition to its original function, it has also served as a residence, hospital, party office, school and dormitory, and since 2002 it has been home to the Faculty of Economics of the then University of West Hungary (currently the Sándor Lámfalussy Fa-culty of Economics of the University of Sopron). The study aims to summa-rize the events and happenings of this hundred-year period through research conducted in the Sopron Archives and the Sopron Museum, analysis of newspaper articles and other documents found there, and review of available literature.
