Abstract
Sandwich structures, with thin, stiff face sheets bonded to lightweight cores, are ideal for applications requiring high strength-to-weight ratios and energy absorption, like those exposed to explosions. This study examines the dynamic behavior of sandwich panels with auxetic double arrowhead-shaped cores under explosive loading using ABAQUS Explicit Dynamics code. Modified core designs (single-, double-, and triple-layer triangular shapes) are compared to the conventional design. Results show the double-layer triangular core excels in blast resistance, reducing deformation and stress while enhancing energy absorption. These findings highlight its potential for blast-resistant applications.
