Abstract
The purpose of the present study is to provide a structured overview of the background of the topic indicated in the title, to establish the conceptual foundations, and to outline the historical development of Directive (EU) 2019/770 up to its transposition into domestic practice. The novelties in consumer protection practices arising from the implementation of the Directive, as well as the specific regulatory innovations, will be addressed in a subsequent paper as a continuation of this study.
