Abstract

A tanulmány arra keresi a választ, hogy a második világháború után miként viszonyultak Magyarországon a holokauszt áldozataira való emlékezéshez. Röviden bemutatja, hogy a hazatérő zsidókat milyen politikai és társadalmi környezet várta, valamint hogy milyen utak álltak a túlélők előtt. Az áldozatokra való emlékezés megmaradt zsidó ügynek, a Rákosi-korszakban szinte tilos volt. A Kádár-korszakban, az arra oly jellemző módon, a rendszer valamit engedett, de alapvetően igyekezett kordában tartani az emlékezés módját és mértékét. A rendszerváltás után közel egy évtizednek kellett eltelnie, hogy az állam kijelöljön egy emléknapot a holokauszt magyarországi áldozatainak emlékére, és elkezdje lebontani a témát körülvevő képzeletbeli falat. I The study examines the attitude towards commemorating the victims of the Holocaust in Hungary after World War II. It briefly presents the political and social environment that awaited the returning Jews, as well as the potential paths faced by the survivors. However, commemorating the victims remained a Jewish matter, and it was practically prohibited during the Rákosi era. In a manner so typical of the Kádár era, the system allowed some form of commemoration, but fundamentally tried to keep the method and extent of remembrance under control. Almost a decade had to pass after the regime change for the state to designate a memorial day to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust in Hungary and to start tearing down the imaginary wall surrounding the topic.
