Abstract
The rational, community-funded extension of the Kincskereső School in Budapest, designed by Márton Dévényi and Pál Gyürki-Kiss, transitions the 1970s housing- estate kindergarten into an eight-grade school under strict financial limits, the architects utilized a "spatial minimum" approach. They added a compact extension at the plot's corner to preserve the schoolyard, providing two classrooms and a community foyer for older students. The design features a homogeneous metal sheet cladding matching the estate's style, while breaking monotony via 45-degree rotated windows and a unique roof-parapet cap that echoes the original building's geometry.
