Abstract

A történelmi Magyarország közigazgatási egységei, ugyanakkor a rendek szereplésének terepei a vármegyék voltak. Az idő múlásával szeparációk és egyesülések is jellemezték a vármegyék történetét, melyeket név- és területi változások kísértek. Ezeket vesszük számba Abaúj és Torna vármegye esetében. | In this study, I examine the unions and disunions of Abaúj and Torna Comitats together with the background of these processes. The first union happened under the decree of King Joseph II on 18th of March in 1785. The King did not only unite the counties but restricted the privilege of the nobility considerably as well. He put up a tremendous resistance. Finally, the King withdrew his all decrees, before his death. In the first half of the 19th century, there was an interesting event in the history of Abaúj and Borsod administration, in which Belső Bőcs was exchanged for Aszaló by the counties. After a long protraction, Aszaló market town had been managed by Abaúj Comitat. This decision was favourable to Abaúj. The second union of Abaúj and Torna Comitats was in 1850 by the authority. After the downfall of the war of independence (1848), the constitution was suspended. After the Diploma of October (1860) by Joseph Ferenc, the restitution had been happened, and the two counties were separated again from each other. The last union declared under the 64th act of 1881. After the union, Torna Comitat formed the 6th district of Abaúj–Torna Comitat. The structure of Abaúj–Torna Comitat, which was created in 1881, was not any considerable change until 1920. Maybe the process was legally. The county has been cut in half in 1920 by the dictated peace of Trianon.
