Abstract
The subject is Schlegel’s notes on Greek poetry and its influence on modern literature. Schlegel’s notes have 14 pages in the “Miscellanea” section. These notes appear to have been transposed from earlier notes. The relationship between ancient and modern poetry is to be seen in the context of the “Querelle des anciens et des modernes”. Schlegel therefore draws up a programme for the renewal of Romantic literature through ancient literature. In particular, the theory of human education is seen as central to the renewal of literature.
