Abstract
| The aim of the research was to prepare a comprehensive study that critically analyzes the results achieved in the field of vibration stress relief (VSR). The mechanism of action of VSR technology has now been verified using a new simulation model, so previous results need to be reevaluated. The combination of vibration excitation and molecular dynamics simulation has shown that the proliferation and movement of dislocations is the main cause of stress change in iron-based materials. Vibration causes microplastic deformations, which promote the release of elastic energy stored in the lattice and set the dislocations in motion, causing them to rearrange themselves and thus making the internal stress more homogeneous (loosening the grain structure). The frequency and amplitude process parameters must be combined in such a way as to result in the highest possible (safe) dynamic stress, both at resonance frequency (resonant) and in non-resonant cases.
