Abstract
Digital image processing and computer graphics are based on the underlying grid (e.g., defined by the computer screen). However, the square grid has some disadvantages, e.g., topological paradox. Therefore, some non-traditional grids could effectively be used in these fields. On the other hand, there are wide-spread imaging devices (e.g., smart phones) that provide very high resolution images on the square grid. In this work, we propose resampling techniques to allow to save images on non-traditional grids. This gives the possibility that one can choose a grid for processing the image that has some better symmetrical and/or topological properties than the traditional grid has.
