Abstract

A tanulmány a Sopronkőhidai Fegyház és Börtön 140 éves történetét mutatja be a magyar büntetés-végrehajtás fejlődésének tükrében. Ismerteti az intézet 1886-os alapításának körülményeit, építészeti sajátosságait és a korszak modern büntetés-végrehajtási szemléletét. Bemutatja a két világháború közötti változásokat, majd részletesen foglalkozik a második világháború időszakával, a politikai foglyok fogvatartásával, Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Endre kivégzésével, valamint a szovjet katonai parancsnokság éveivel. A tanulmány kitér a fogvatartotti munkáltatás fejlődésére, különösen a Sopronkőhidai Szövőgyár szerepére, továbbá a rendszerváltozást követő rekonstrukciókra, férőhelybővítésekre és az európai normákhoz való igazodás folyamatára is. | This study presents the 140-year history of the Sopronkőhida Strict and Medium Regime Prison in the context of the development of the Hungarian prison system. It describes the circumstances surrounding the institution’s founding in 1886, its architectural features, and the modern approach to corrections during that era. It describes the changes that took place between the two world wars, then examines in detail the period of World War II, the detention of political prisoners, the execution of Endre Bajcsy-Zsilinszky, and the years under Soviet military command. The study also addresses the development of the employment of inmates, particularly the role of the Sopronkőhida Weaving Factory, as well as the reconstructions, capacity expansions, and the process of aligning with European standards following the change of regime.
