Abstract
The mechanical properties of FDM-manufactured components are influenced by several printing parameters, including infill geometry. This study investigates 24 different infill geometries in PET-G specimens. Impact and tensile tests were performed on 240 specimens, with approximately constant infill mass. The Lateral Honeycomb geometry exhibited the highest average impact energy (18.6 J), while Gyroid provided the highest average tensile force (1622 N). Impact tests showed considerably higher relative standard deviations than tensile tests. Thus, high impact energy was not necessarily associated with good repeatability, whereas Gyroid combined high tensile force with low variability. The results demonstrate that infill geometry affects both the mechanical load-bearing capacity and the variability of measurement results, which should be considered when selecting a geometry for a specific application.
