Abstract

Linear actuators are used in nearly every modern production line. They are capable of creating precise and fast movements, while not taking up as much space as a conventional, purely mechanical drivetrain. Pneumatic actuators can be used in special environments, such as explosion-prone industries, medical and food production lines. Hydraulic systems have high power density, thus they can be found in heavy machineries. These systems can be analysed in place, creating the most precise but an expensive and complex process. For this time the system is also unable to take part in the production, generating additional revenue losses. A separate load module is used to analyse linear actuators outside of production environments. The benefit of such modules includes lower overall costs, being able to carry out these studies in other locations than the production facilities and to create additional load-cases, thus future proofing the system. This paper introduces the conceptual design of a special load module, created for these specific purposes.
