Abstract

The Landscape Convention of the Council of Europe introduces a broad view of democracy concerning the preservation of values and the shaping of the future. It takes dynamic view by emphasising the interactions of natural and cultural elements. The Convention focuses on the rights and responsibilities of citizens and stakeholders concerning landscape protection, management and planning, thus situating landscape as the arena of sustainability.Through conceptual analysis, this paper aims to highlight the theoretical basis of the Landscape Convention and its implementation.
