Abstract
In the present paper I am investigating the purpose clauses in the texts of a Khanty–Russian bilingual speaker. The main goal of the research is to describe the types of purpose clause, considering that in contact situations the grammatical repertoire of the target language is usually enriched with some structures or items of the source language. The other observation this analysis is based upon is that the speech production of one and the same person reflects the diversity appearing in the whole speech community. The intraspeaker variants produced by the speaker range from the model that is considered oiginal in Khanty to those showing Russian influence, although, for the time being, the typical Russian pattern seems to be missing. The corpus of research is the text material collected by Ruttkay-Miklián in the Synja region of the Khanty territory, and it bears all the characteristic features of spontaneous speech productions. The amount of this spoken Khanty material, which is 70 hours, guarantees getting relevant data.
