Abstract
The paper presents an overview of derivatives with evaluative meaning in Hungarian. The suffixes used to derive such meanings include the diminutive suffix in the case of nouns and adjectives, the frequentative suffix in the case of verbs and the superlative forms in the case of adjectives. The evaluative meaning may also depend on the meaning of the base as well as on the context in which the derivative is used. Evaluative meaning is thus by definition part of pragmatic meaning.
