Abstract

The Czech linguist Josef Dobrovky paid attention to the contacts of the Hungarian with the Slavic languages. As R. Prazhak has pointed out, Dobrovsky entered into correspondence with the Hungarian linguist S. Gyarmathi and exerted remarkable influence on him, which aslo manifested itself in Gyarmathi's "Affinitas Linguae Hungaricae". The largest part of this paper is concerned with some problems of Rusyn (Subcarpathian) philology. M. Lutskay's Grammatica Slavo-Ruthena was convieced as a result of Dobrovksy's influence. It should be noted, however, that Lutskay drew upon another important source as well, namely, F. Versheghy's Magyar Grammatika avagy Nyelvtudomány (Hungarian Grammar) in its approach.
