Abstract
ANDRÁSSY ÚT 92–94. ROOF CONVERSION, BUDAPEST, HUNGARY ARCHITECT: GYULA BUKOVICS Downtown Budapest residential properties from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, organized around inner courtyards, where historicism and free style are mixed with premodernism, socialist modernism and contemporary buildings. The older buildings are typically neglected, in need of renovation, especially the more palatial examples. The damaged roof on this building has been restored to its former splendour using contemporary construction methods, and a new "guest" floor slab, steel roof framing and improved living standards. Even still some of the more traditional elements, such as the timber framed towers, have been restored using traditional skills.
