Abstract
Children spend most of their daytime in school, thus food provided by public catering has pivotal role shaping children’s health. In Hungary the Public Catering Decree entered into force in 2015, after a long preparatory phase and intense intersectional cooperation with the relevant stakeholders. e decree addressing dietary risk factors and setting standards for food provided by public caterers. is legal tool is also one of a complex series of recent public health measures to tackle the root causes of obesity. Eating according to the principles of the regulation keeps children active, helps them concentrate for learning and, in the long term, and helps to maintain good health by developing healthy eating habits.
