Abstract

Kutatásom fókuszában a kibertér állt. Ez az a "tér", amelyet a működő számítógép hálózatok alakítottak, alakítanak ki, és egyre bővülő, nagy hatású rendszerré vált. De a területi összefüggések sok kérdést vetnek fel. A kibertér számos tudományterület (matematika, informatika, fizika, egyes mérnöki szaktudományok) kedvelt kutatási témaköre. A földrajztudomány, különösen a társadalomföldrajz viszonylag későn ismerte fel a kibertér adekvát kutatási jelentőségét, és az ezzel a témakörrel foglalkozó kutatói gárda világszerte sem nagy számú. Kutatásomban elsőként vizsgáltam a kiberteret olyan társadalomföldrajzi nézőpontból, amely a kibertér lényegének, értékelésének feltárásán túl elemzi a földrajz helyét a kibertér világában; bemutatja a kibertér az egyén, a társadalom, a valódi helyek és terek viszonyát; érzékelteti az információs társadalom és a kibertér hatásának bonyolult és területileg nagyon különböző megjelenési formáját és kapcsolatát; valamint leírja a városok lehetőségeit itt a Földön és a kibertérben. A kutatás eredményeit "A kibertér, és ami körülötte van" című könyvben foglaltam össze. | In my research report the focus was on cyberspace. This is the so called space, which has been formed by operating computer networks and which turned into a system with great effect. A lot of questions, though, are raised by the spatial relations. Cyberspace is a favoured research topic of several fields of science such as Matematics, Information Technology, Physics, some Sciences of Engineening. The Geography, especially the Human Geography recognised the adequate impotance of the research of cybercpace relatively late and even today there are only a few researchers dealing with this topic around the world. In my research I was pioneer in Hungary in examining the cyberspace from such a human geographical point of view wich beyond the exploration of the importance and estimation of cyberspace, also examines the place of Geography in the world of cyberspace; it represents the relationships of the individual, society, real places and spaces with the cyberspace; it demonstrates the complicated and regionally very different outward forms and relations of the effect of cyberspaces and information society as well as decribes the possibilities of cities here on Earth and in the cyberspace. The results of the research are summarised in my book entitled 'The cyberspace and what is around it'.
