Abstract

Pécsett a hajléktalanok ellátása 16 éve a Pécsi Gondozási Központ feladata. | This study demonstrates some psychological elements that appear in the process of becoming homeless. By case studies from the practice of Támasz Homelessness Care Centre we will exhibit the way towards the loss of home and family relationships and the formation of a social inadaptation. Homelessness in general means deprivation of family and caregiver relationships and conventional social relationships. Homelessness is the maximum of indigence, a result of the general effect of a multifactorial process. The early traumas and thence the development of behavioural and emotional problems create such dysfunctions in the individual life conduct, stress management and relationships which contribute to the inchoation and fixing of homelessness. This life goes with the modification of development of identity and personality. Homelessness by nature helps the isolation from social institutions and from the network of personal relationships. The lack of housing discourages the stable communication with formal relationships and friends. Men become homeless because they do not maintain, look after their social contacts with people who are not homeless. Isolation is the cause and the consequence of the homeless status.
